Summer Getaway

Sudbury is only approximately an hour’s drive from Killarney, a quaint village located on Georgian Bay, one of Ontario’s most beautiful summer vacation destinations. Whether you want to enjoy a fun day trip or spend the night, Killarney is well worth adding to the list of places to visit before the summer ends.

Day 1

La Cloche Silhouette Trail

Although this 100 km trail takes approximately 10 days to complete in its entirety, hikers can enjoy a much shorter hike in the provincial campground, George Lake Campground. The west section of the trail is considered moderate. For the more adventurous spirits, the east section of the trail is considered very strenuous as it runs the whole length of the park.

Killarney East Lighthouse

The Killarney East Lighthouse rests on a beautiful red granite formation on Red Rock Point, marking the eastern entrance to Killarney. Thirty feet above the beautiful Georgian Bay waters stands a wooden red and white lighthouse. The grounds surrounding the charming lighthouse are open to the public and make an excellent location to take a few photos.

Location: Red Rock Point (1 mile east of Killarney Village)

Herbert Fisheries

No trip to Killarney is complete without tasting Killarney’s famous fish and chips from Herbert Fisheries. The renowned red converted school bus serves delicious fish that has been caught that very day. Their popular deep fried and battered whitefish has tourists lining up to taste it throughout the summer months. Herbert Fisheries is a Killarney staple that simply can’t be missed.
